Clarification

I must clarify. We would like you to post your comments on this site to show the attorney and the media that there is an inherent problem with all retail, but Tuesday Morning (and Walmart :-) in particular. He will not nor cannot do anything until he knows and is shown the problem. This is all perfectly legal...I am only soliciting anonymous information to show a pattern of behavior. There can't just be five stores where there have been delivery and upper management problems. I know for a fact this is a nationwide company problem and needs to be addressed for the employees sake. I've heard from California, Texas, Louisiana, New York, Michigan and Connecticut. In the New Jersey district alone I know of five managers going through the Workmans Comp gauntlet from hell. Shoulder and back injuries. The company denying it's the companies fault. Has America stooped so low that they take advantage of their employees for profit. You bet they would and it's time for this to stop. No more free rides for corporations due to obscure regulations that favor big business. If you know people in the situations described, have them post a comment here and describe the situation...no names, but circumstance and resolution to date. They are interested in how the truck looks when you open the door, how precariously the boxes are stacked in the stores, any injuries due to truck or stock, injuries caused by the constant physical labor, lack of interest by Workmans Comp and Human Resources, lies told to you by supervisors (promises of certain rewards for jobs well done but not delivered, or that something will be done for you but never is (job related)), lack of help from Regional on up for problems in your store. Please take your time, be accurate and truthful, and let us know how bad this company is!

"This is a request for anyone who might have any information about a retail store, Tuesday Morning. Please do not be afraid to come forward. Any information received will not cause you loss of employment. It is not necessary to give your correct name and email address at this time. We cannot stress the importance regarding the information you are sending IT MUST BE EXTREMELY ACCURATE. We are in the process of investigating any and all complaints. We are also extremely interested in any and all work related injuries. We would like to know whether or not you were fairly compensated. We are seeking information from past and present employees. Upon reviewing the information received, we will advise."
The entry above is from a friend who is instituting a class action lawsuit against Tuesday Morning. In order for a class action lawsuit to be successful it must include two important things...enough people signing on, and a good reason for instituting it in the first place. I think without a doubt we have number two in the pocket, but the only way we can see if we can do this is to ask you to respond here to see if we would have enough people to do this. There is no fee to you other than some time to respond to e-mails, etc.
Please enter a Comment briefly describing your experience with Tuesday Morning....I have allowed Anonymous comments so that your privacy is protected. Let's Roll!

Resigned

Well, she went and did it. Nancy Wiseman resigned as of 11:30 a.m. February 16th, 2005. She has had enough. She just called me on her cell phone and I had to calm her down so she could drive home. Seems Larry Cornell's latest weirdness through Andy paid off. Andy was at the store harassing the hell out of her. Real men, these guys. I would now like to publicly state that this harassment is being directed by Mike Marchetti from the Tuesday Morning Corporation. He was hired to fix the warehouse but now he's running the show. Shame on such an ego trip as this abusive atmosphere that you call discount retail. I am now directing to my congress members, law makers, and whom-ever else has a fax machine and is remotely related to law or retail, a brand new copy of the first press release for Down With Tuesday Morning campaign. Actually, Lauren Bacall should be the first. Now that Nancy is no longer employed at Tuesday Morning, we can direct our attention to publicly exposing a lousy way to do business. The abuse of store level personnel is against the constitution, isn't it? To say the least it's unethical and should be exposed for what it is...a way for companies to make lots of money for the higher up officers and the investors, while "using" customers and lower rung employees to gain this money. It's a scam that only a select few can take advantage of. Boycott. Boycott. Boycott. Pass it along.

Advice To The Lovelorn

You must document everything, grasshopper. Digital camera....digital video....write it down...timestamp (time and date) it. Of concern is truck unloading and backroom space...check with your firemarshal...he can be helpful ;-) Also note any conversations with your superiors that you think did not go according to ethics or law. If your not sure, use Google, it also can be your friend!
Of concern to me as a citizen is how this came about in our society. We want to purchase inexpensive "quality" goods, yet how do you think this feat comes about? In order for companies to be able to offer "cheaper" goods, they must cut costs. Most companies are misguided. They think that cutting labor costs is the cure all for successfully insuring that for now and into the future we can sustain this return on investment. You cut labor, your product is delivered unprofessionally, you lose customers, you lay off more people to "return on investment", it spirals downward to bankruptcy or stockholder intervention or a bad situation for corporate officers. A corporation will be successful if it streamlines warehouse and delivery concerns. This, along with the overall buying process, is how Walmart became so successful, although they almost threw that away when they got caught with labor scandals. Now they are always under media scrutiny, not always a good thing for corporations. Very balanced report of Walmart on CNBC by the way. I had a low opinion of Walmart until I saw that documentary. Sorry, the name of it escapes me, but it explained the corporate culture, the buying process, warehouse and distribution and it's interaction with the communities.
Anyone who would like to contact me personally may do so by e-mailing me at enolan4208@oops.comcast.net leaving out the oops. or you just won't get through...it's an e-mail trick so that "bots" don't mail you a million offers for canadian drugs and generic viagra ('I got a bridge to sell ya' kinda thingy). Just from people who think they have no recourse in a bad employment situation with a certain company...wink, wink. Besides, I can't tell you online who you should direct negative information about the working conditions at that certain...wink, wink....company.
So, let's see...in this post I haven't mentioned the name of the company that should become boycotted, nor the people responsible for this fiasco. This is a company that allows two middleaged women to unload a truck with four to five hundred (yeah, I know there's stores with more...just going by my experience) heavy cartons (I say heavy and I'm a 240 pound healthy male) and tell them they can't hire temps to help because your way over budget. And I swear those dudes in the warehouse put those heavy cartons on the top on purpose...you know...pack to light. I ran a store for Famous Footwear, a 7500 square foot discount shoe store, and received around three hundred cases a week, and I never worked up a sweat. Each store was set up by corporate for optimum receiving of product to expedite the restock process. Money is made by the product being out on the shelf, but the company also wanted to avoid employee burnout, something lacking with that certain...wink, wink....company. Employees at the store level (management, that is) were treated as if they were a part of corporate. Respect and help up the giggy because it's their product your selling there.

A Washout!!!

Today, Sunday, Feb. 6th, 2005, I went out to my wife's store in East Brunswick, NJ because there is a roof leak that is flooding her store. The landlord there was supposed to repair this situation so that she could mop up all the water, then open the store. This situation began Friday afternoon. When she got home on Saturday she stated that the property manager had been there and declared the problem fixed. The problem is (notice I didn't say "was") clogged roof drains on a flat roof with over a foot of melting snow still on the roof. I went on the roof Sunday and found all the snow still there and the roof drains still clogged. There was a flat piece of metal on the roof with one end bent over to make a handle. He was using this to clean the drain. The only thing he accomplished was pushing whatever is clogging the drain down further, leaving it clogged. And due to the fact that I don't work for Tuesday Morning any longer, that drain is still waiting for the landlord to get his head out of his ass. A plumber with a long "snake" will fix that just fine, but that costs money. This is three days of incompetence showing brightly. This is typical of the chaos that follows Tuesday Morning due to the terrible corporate management. The people in corporate are more interested in their compensation than actually fixing and running a company. On the Madison-Dearborn website they are very proud of the savings these cut-rate real estate deals afford them. As I see it they must be spending a lot of money fixing broken stores and chasing after slumlords to get the money back. Of course they still state that Tuesday Morning closes all the time for restocking the store...another proof of the liars and manipulators running this country and a lot of businesses. I also noticed that the reset isn't done either. Seems someone can't get all the necessary fixtures to the stores. A little here, a little there. And she still can't find decent help there. Right now she has a guy who has to be handheld all day. He won't do anything without help, and he has to call every day to remember what his schedule is. And they want all their stores to have men in them! Well, TM, these are the types of men your going to get because your cheap and chaotic. Sad world we live in, huh?
