Let's Get Down To Brass Tacks

It is commendable that people have opinions and express their views, but no one here has even come close to answers to the problems expressed here. The biggest problem facing morale at Tuesday Morning is the fact that so many people are being injured, hurt, sore, whatever, by a procedure that could be reviewed and corrected tomorrow. Part of the equation is that Tuesday Morning Corp. is playing the Workmans Comp game. Employees are being hurt by procedures and Tuesday Morning is denying this is happening.
Tuesday Morning spent an (unknown) amount of time and money to revamp the warehouse end of their distribution network, and this, from a business perspective, is commendable. But, due to unknown reasons they left out the store end of the equation except for token lengths of rollers to expedite unloading trucks. In the store that Nancy managed, the stockroom was approximately fifteen foot by thirty foot...then a genius (Larry the zone) made it eight by thirty...width of the store. It then became a nightmare to receive merchandise, or even get around in there. This was the last straw for Nancy, who, by the way, was working for Tuesday Morning before the current regime was put in place. If I were them I'd issue an apology, then fix it, but admitting a mistake is probably never going to happen in any corporate environment. And Nancy did injure her arm and shoulder but left TM before she could get on the WC merrygoround.
Now, as for the people that like Tuesday Morning and think I'm being unfair, there is an uproar in this country about corporate ethics or the lack thereof, and until that situation is settled none of this is going to go away. I have said it before and I'll say it again, there is a grassroots movement in America that is not happy with things the way they are in the business world.

I'm Already In A New Profession.

Why, I'm glad to see the ONE Store Manager that likes Tuesday Morning has posted here. I'm so happy for you. You must be as miserable and arrogant as the rest of the I Like Tuesday Morning crowd. As for going away and doing something else, not until Tuesday Morning Corp. is history. And, yes, all of retail is like that, but do you know why? Because people who are in a position of power think they are better than the customers they serve and the employees under them. Thanks to big companies like WalMart there probably is no hope of having a job in this country where the bosses treat you fairly. As you've said, it's all about the bottom line, but the beef here is that you DON"T ABUSE PEOPLE to get there. If you think it's good to have a system that causes injuries, then deny that it's happening, you are leaving yourself open to attack from those who oppose your policies. Go back and read the entry about Southwest Airlines and try and find the negative. There is none because from the top on down all are respected. Until Tuesday Morning makes it better for the store level employee, I'll be here!!! By the way, I'm in construction and will never go back to retail. Neither will Nancy.

A Thank You

Thank you to my very quick critic. This is not the forum for mine nor anyone else's beliefs, whether they be political and/or religious. I will stick to the task at hand, exposing bad business practices by corporations...as futile as that seems at times.

Congress

I have sent an e-mail to the Congressman who is involved with the Wal-Mart episode. He is from California so I'm not getting my hopes up, but I am getting closer day by day to enough publicity that everyone in the United States will know what direction retail and business in general have gone. Companies have run out of legal ways to make money and due to investor pressure these companies are resorting to unethical and illegal practices that are only caught by whistleblowers. It is not illegal to be a whistleblower although you must be very discrete before the info gets out to the public to protect your jobs. I am now faxing this information to more members of Congress because it seems that no one is interested in injured women who are someone's mother, wife, girlfriend, daughter. I am faxing it to attorneys, state legislatures, state labor departments, departments of public safety, and assorted others just for publicity purposes.

Contact

My name is Ed Nolan. My phone is 732-389-0442. If anyone has information that will help prove the negligence of Tuesday Morning, please contact me! I have made it my mission in life to ruin Tuesday Morning Corp and any of it's affiliates and parent companies. I need pictures, statements, recordings of conversations with Corporate or their representatives, or even rumors of wrong doings. This has gone on long enough and it's time to take back our lives. If we as private citizens did even a tenth of what has happened here we would be fined, jailed, or both. You can't order conditions that injure people and think you can get away with it. There are a substantial number of people injured by Tuesday Mornings procedures and nothing is being done about it but a lot of words. If no one responds here within seven days I will assume that you all in the stores find this acceptable working conditions and I'll just go away. There is no way to pursue this with just words. Action is needed and urged at this time. If you call another employee for a sku check, mention the blogs. If you have a conversation with a customer, mention the blog. If you are talking to your friends about shopping, mention not to shop at Tuesday Morning because they are unfair and negligent to their employees. Make it happen. Be discrete but do it. If there is enough publicity about disgruntled employees things will change, but if you all sit back waiting nothing will ever happen. Post on one of the blogs what happened at your Workmans Comp hearing. Post on the blog if you are being harrassed about a messy store. And, did you know that even Corporate, with ten employees and a loading dock, can't get the merchandise out in four hours, or that the conditions (messy store) that led to Nancy quitting still exist and nothing is being done to her replacement in the way of harrassment. Did you also know that Tuesday Morning does not train it's Regionals on how to run a store. Run a register, open or close a store? They don't have a clue. They are trained in underhanded tactics to harrass the help. And they are hiring spies in corporate to watch over those employees as well. This was verified by a number of corporate employees. Seems like the paranoia is spreading. There is a sickness there that has to be irradicated.

The Most Unethical Company On The Planet!!!

Nancy was denied unemployment. Tuesday Morning is stating that she abandoned her job. "You voluntarily left your job because you were dissatisfied with the working conditions. There was no evidence that the conditions of your employment were so severe as to cause you to leave available work to become unemployed. Therefore, your reason for leaving does not constitute good cause attributable to the work. You are disqualified for benefits." I will now go around to about twenty Tuesday Morning stores and take pictures of inside the store, the shopping center where it is located, the truck when the door is first opened, and whatever else my little camera will let me click.

Important Information

The following is from www.expertlaw.com
Workers' Compensation Litigation
While most injured workers recover quickly, and beyond making the initial injury report to qualify for benefits have no real awareness of the workers' compensation system, those more seriously injured may have difficulty with their employer or with the compensation system. Those workers may benefit from consulting with lawyers. Workers' compensation litigation is generally considered to be simpler than traditional injury litigation, as it takes place in an administrative setting and may involve relaxed evidentiary rules. Attorney fees are ordinarily limited by statute.
Workers typically need to hire a workers comp lawyer when they are refused benefits to which they are entitled, are told that they can return to work before they are actually medically able, or are denied extended or permanent disability despite significant disabling injury. If your employer sends you to a doctor who declares that you are able to return to work even though you don't believe you are yet able, or tries to get you to return to work to a special job created to accommodate your injury, you should consider speaking to a comp lawyer right away.
The reason is this: while a typical injured employee does not know the law, a typical employer is very much aware of how the compensation system works, and how to terminate an employee's benefits. An injured worker who returns to work in a specially created position may well find that, two weeks later, the position is eliminated and he is laid off - but is no longer eligible for workers comp. Similarly, many employers utilize doctors who are much more interested in maintaining a good continuing relationship with the employer than with accurately diagnosing the employee - too many declarations of continuing disability will likely cause the employer to send injured employees to a different doctor. A lawyer can help you protect your rights when one of these "hired gun" doctors tries to block you from getting necessary treatment, cut off your benefits or send you back to work too early.
It is beneficial to go to a lawyer who handles a lot of workers' compensation cases. Typically, those lawyers will know the administrative judges or hearing officers who preside over comp hearings, and may also know the doctors and defense lawyers who are trying to block your claim. Using an attorney who knows the ins and outs of the system can help ensure that you collect the benefits that are due or, if you are so inclined, get a maximum pay-off to settle your compensation claim.

It's Been Long Enough!!!

Well, it has been at least one year since people have been writing on the EgoInc blog, and since June of Last year on this one. We know for a fact that the Zone and at least two of the Regionals have responded to these blogs so we know the company is aware. We have even heard from people that work in the corporate office who have stated they know about it. It's been e-mailed to the investment group with no response. I think that is plenty long enough for a company to respond to their employees and customers. All Tuesday Morning had to do was respond with an Action Plan, just like those rubes known as Zone and Regional keep asking for. Well, now it's too late. Tuesday Morning could have avoided what's coming next by just responding to this, but they have chosen to avoid it...maybe it will go away?....not in this lifetime. There is not one retail company out there that is run as badly as this one is and effected so many lives in a negative way. If we can't boycott it into oblivion, we'll sue it there, write our congressmen, our local newspapers, and/or whomever will listen. We have done nothing wrong except express our displeasure with the management of Tuesday Morning, and we will include the investment group Madison-Dearborn in any negative LEGAL publicity afforded to Tuesday Morning. These complaints are coming from hardworking people who are being ignored, used, and spit out when done with the only real benefit to the stockholders.

Anonymous!!!

Note to reporter....nice try, whoever you are, but I think it would be a little early to let the cat out of the bag. Everything is remaining Anonymous until such time as things are filed. To tell you the truth, Ed does not know who the attorney is, nor has he asked, because everyone is anonymous! I am posting a lot of this blog with information received from past and present employees, so in effect it is their web blog to cry out to the world for help. It is becoming increasingly apparent that not only retail but a lot of corporations are opting for less than ethical ways to increase the coffers for their investors. I am not saying investors are directing this, but the pressure of executives (I use that lightly) to increase sales year after year will undoubtedly cause some of those uncreative executives to do what their uncreative predecessors have done forever....cut those labor costs. The funny thing is, where does it end...with the failure of the company as a whole when there's no more to take?
Now, if your truck comes and there's no straps or bars holding the load, take a picture. After you unload the truck and pack it into your back room, take a picture. Take a picture of the carts and merchandise that you have to block aisles with to restock while open. Then take pictures of the way the store looks in general. That one is for your protection, for it seems this company likes to play the 'cover your ass' game.
For a little insight on what is going on with corporate America, I direct your attention to http://www.bullyonline.org . This particular web site is from the United Kingdom (England, for those of you scratching your heads) and shows that they addressed this problem about five years ago, but in America the plan is "Fug 'em, we pay their salary and they'll do as we please". Well, that will come to an end soon, my fellow Americans. Are we going to let those stuffy British one up our labor organizations? None of these retail organizations will allow unions in, so we'll just have to get legislation passed protecting our rights in a democratic society. I spoke of a grassroots, straighten out corporations movement previously...well it has already begun and was done without a lot of fanfare so that the powers that be could not stop it. It has taken on political overtones to get at the heart of the problem...all that money going from businesses to political parties so that legislation will be passed to benefit those businesses. If the government is so hell bent on granting privileges to these companies then if the companies do something unethical the officers running those companies should be held responsible and given jail time and large fines. Eventually this will stop all this unethical manipulation of ordinary peoples lives. No more of the excuse "Business as usual".
