Please Respond

I see. If I dish out dirt you all respond but when I redirect to the real reason for this blog...to organize and stop the Workmans Compensation scam from continuing...you all have nothing to say. I suggested a union, one that wouldn't take a lot of your money at first so that you could organize without a big expense, like you would have with an AFL-CIO affiliated union. No response from that as far as I could tell. I suggested an attorney that is schooled in Workmans Comp cases if you were denied WC. Got one response for that one...they said it didn't help because the attorney evidently had no experience with WC and he just walked away from the case. The previous post was the second time I've asked for you all to place your stories in the Comment section of this blog. It doesn't matter where you Comment because it e-mails me with a copy and I move them to a Personal Folder. And trust me, this is the way to bring about "change" at Tuesday Morning. When they finally realize it costs less to have a safe system in place for stock work than to fight off dozen's of lawsuits charging discrimination, unfair labor practices, unsafe working conditions, etc....get the picture?

Tuesday Morning! Too

I return your attention to the real reason for this blog. It is to bring to the world's eyes the real Tuesday Morning story. It is not a day of the week, it represents the mistreatment of employees both physically and in some cases mentally. It represents the repeatedly denied Workmans Comp. cases, a lot of them due to "pre-existing conditions". It represents the late and/or conflicting directives given to the stores by corporate. It represents the harassing behavior by Zone Managers, Regional Managers, and a corporate officer...only one comes to mind. If you treat people under you as if you have ownership instead of their interests at heart, you will receive a backlash from that. It's so nice to see all the back slapping going on in the media, and it most assuredly impresses the investors, but it does absolutely nothing to change the image projected TO THE PUBLIC. Your customers are watching you. One thing about America, neighbors talk to neighbors. One person works at Tuesday Morning, tells his neighbor all about the company. Next thing you know there's a whole neighborhood block never shopping at Tuesday Morning ever again. Won't take long to multiply this latest. Now, my name is Ed Nolan. I am doing this because there is an injustice going on that needs a course correction. My e-mail is enolan4208@excite.com.com , leave off the last dot com. You can contact me with your story in confidence. It will be shown to no one without your written consent. I need it to help along some things behind the scenes. If you all truly want to try and change things for the better the Workmans Comp. abuse must be stopped first. This is what your stories are for, how it was or wasn't resolved, how you came to have the condition you are trying to get Workmans Comp. to pay for, was it from an unsafe condition, repetitious lugging around of heavy merchandise...you get the picture.
I am also looking for one photo to use as the banner picture. Humor would suit best because we all need a chuckle after working for Tuesday Morning. I also have the ability to post pictures with my posts.
By the way, would you think that the two people who might have controlling interest...no, not K. Mason and M. Marchetti, but the two members of Madison-Dearborn who sit on the Board Of Directors of Tuesday Morning would read between the lines and act on that. There is one person in Dallas that needs replacing. The warehouse is doing it's job fine now and that person does not have the skills nor temperament to fix the rest of the company. A person with good HUMAN RESOURCES skills comes to mind!!!

Deleted Post or "Didn't you Google that?"

Thanks to the commenter who caught that NESARA thing. I failed to Google it, saw it late at night and got caught up in it. NESARA was a proposal by NESARA.org but it was never even given a bill number, let alone enacted into law. My bad for being so busy I overlooked the source. One of those too good to be true moments. The particular website I copied from is from a scam artist who is exposed in the very first hit from Google. My apologies to those non-Republican folk who whooped and hollered and thought they were saved. And for those that missed it, the aliens are next after we defeat the terrorists. ;-)

News Media Propaganda

Another "back slapping" news release for Tuesday Morning. Nowhere does it mention the tsunami of Workmans Comp lawsuits, appeals and the outright denials, nor the heavy handed treatment of employees at all levels. Of course they have a high return on investment...their only major expense is their own high salaries.

Motley Fool
Tuesday Morning Delight

By Nathan Parmelee

I'm always wary when a company's earnings release trumpets revenue growth above all else, as Tuesday Morning (Nasdaq: TUES - News) did in its earnings release last night. However, there is no cause for alarm, because the company actually did quite fine on the earnings front, as well, once you back out the charge for a change in lease accounting, which many retailers have been required to make.
With the charges backed out, discount retailer Tuesday Morning grew the bottom line at 10%, which just happens to be the same level as the trumpeted top-line growth. This is all the more impressive considering that the retail environment has been pretty murky of late. Even fellow discounter TJX (NYSE: TJX - News) -- operator of TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Home Goods, to name a few -- has had a lumpy go of it so far in its first quarter, with comps relatively flat against strong gains last year.

That said, discount retailers should continue to fare better than their full-price brethren if the economy weakens. We all still need stuff, and there are always those things we don't need but still want, so we'll just be more selective regarding what we purchase and how much we pay for it. That plays into the hands of discounters like Tuesday Morning, TJX, and even Wal-Mart (NYSE: WMT - News).

If you own shares of Tuesday Morning, relax. The company's "treasure hunt" style of retailing seems to be steaming right along, and there's still plenty of room for new store openings. Management seems to be even-handed in allocating captial to expansion. The company has seen a gradual rise in its cash conversion cycle, though, and that bears watching.

Finally, let's not forget the company's excellent return on invested capital, which was pegged at 22% (and increasing) not too long ago by fellow Fool James Early. At that point, James estimated Tuesday Morning's weighted average cost of capital at around 10%, give or take a couple of percentage points. The large spread between the two is what makes Tuesday Morning a strong producer of capital that can be used for future growth and other purposes. Just for kicks, I decided to run through and estimate Tuesday Morning's cost of capital myself and, lo and behold, I came in at just over 11%. With that in mind, the sun should shine on Tuesday Morning just about every day for a while.

Another Reprint

Let's not forget, that some of the stores are now being "TESTED" by staying open later on a Saturday night now. They normally closed at 6:00pm on a Saturday. Now it is 8:00pm. There is no increased payroll to support this extra two hours either. Yet, the chosen "test stores" have to do this. One person told me that they only found out their store HAD to do this at 10 minutes to 4:00pm on a FRIDAY. Their Regional had been at their store that day even. Nothing was mentioned that they had to do this until he went back home and read his e-mail. There was their store listed, so he called them up and told them that their store was to be a "test store." That is some kind of GREAT notice isn't it? What about planning? What kind of planning goes into such RASH and SUDDEN decisions that affect people's lives on a daily basis. Tuesday Morning, runs it's company by the SEAT OF IT'S PANTS! Or skirts. This would never happen at a "Mall" store or even more organized stores like Big Lot's or Walmart, & Target. Now you can see why Tuesday Morning is on it's way DOWN and OUT. There is very poor planning at the top and bad leadership brings companies down.
They are the most unorganized company I have been around.

Reprint Of Relevant Comment

At 6:33 PM, Rights4All said...
I think most people care about things that are going on in society, but they are so used to being told "there is nothing YOU can do about it" that they quit trying. There is a site called ipetitions.com where anyone can start an online petition and when you get the desired amount of response, you can send it to Tuesday Morning, or any other place you choose. I would encourage anyone, to try something like this. One persons point of view may go un-noticed, but thousands will not fall on deaf ears (or blind eyes in this case).

Dust Storm

Message to Investors...save your corporation, it's being run into the ground. You have employees leaving at an alarming rate, the bottom line is getting smaller, and Tuesday Mornings current reputation is at the bottom. TM is coming across as one of the poorest run companies in America and it's getting worse. The people in Dallas are reacting to things with an apparent panic. They are not professionals, unless bankrupting companies is a profession adored by the retail industry as a whole. Changing your sales day from Tuesday to Saturday only has customers scratching their heads thinking there's something wrong with the company, so they won't buy because customers like to know they have somewhere to return the crap they buy. Most of these customers are shopaholics whose husbands make them return it the next day. They think Tuesday Morning is going out of business because their stores look like no one cares and there's not enough help in the stores...it appears like there's a skeleton crew selling out the junk, then the doors will close. Stop worrying about the return to the investors for a while and fix your company, or it soon won't be a company but a memory. It will be another "great" entry to Mason and Marchetti's resume...another one bites the dust!!!

Do Like WalMart Does, TM

This is from MSNBC news article dated May 19, 2005. "Wal-Mart's sales growth has sagged, in part because the Bentonville, Ark.-based retailer, while still a low-price leader, doesn't have products on the floor that attract today's shoppers — particularly in apparel, home furnishings and consumer electronics. It also has a problem with slow checkout service and its stores look uninspiring."
Ok, Corporate Tuesday Morning...keep doing like WalMart...you'll be just as successful...muahahahahaha!!!

They Still Don't Get It!!!

At 3:12 AM, Anonymous said...
I am glad to say that today was my last day at Tuesday Morning I was a Store Manager since March 18th and had only 3 days off until now. And my Regional had to ask why I was leaving. All I can say is good luck to thew new Manager because the Assistant is quitting on Saturday and the 3rd key has already given his notice. And to make it even better the background check for the 4th key has not cleareed yet so he will be the only manager there. i got out in the nick of time.

Just thought I'd bring one of the Anonymous entries to the forefront just in case corporate doesn't know how to read comments. This is one of hundreds of responses I've gotten from store level employees. You people in Dallas have the nerve to say that your employee relations are good. Your company is falling apart around you and your launching the lifeboats empty. Get rid of the arrogance and become real people. Learn some people skills and get a clue...the old style corporate culture is not working. You can't force American citizens into bad situations without some kind of backlash, and in this case you are facing a 'tsunami' of people opposed to your treatment at your stores. You think you have the right to run your stores any way you see fit, and legally you are right, but morally you miss the mark by miles. If all you can hire for henchmen is former K-Mart or BigLot rejects you are going to be in for a surprise very soon. These former employees of companies that were run into the ground by these same losers will bring your 'stepchild' to ruin. Tuesday Morning WAS a good company but Mr. Marchetti and Ms. Mason have done their 'magic', as they've done to other companies.

Some 'Base Closings'

Just got finished laughing on the floor. Daily you all hear about being over payroll, yet Andy (the Smirk), the Regional for the New Jersey region tells his managers that the crew should stay until 9 p.m. to get the truck merchandise out. No temp help to unload truck because it's too expensive (they pay the temp help agency $15. for each person used, although the temp agency pays the temps only $6. an hour) yet it costs more in labor dollars to keep the crew in store. First of all, no one wants to work for Tuesday Morning any longer, they are all looking for different jobs, and this moron will be running all those stores alone. You can't be an asshole and expect people to bend over backwards to do your beck and call. Do you think all the store help are having fun there? And, by the way, Andy, none of those store personnel are lazy as Corporate would have you think...they are hard working people who are getting tired of your crap.
And things are so bad in the northeast that a Long Island store is closing, and I know for a fact it's not from lack of 'well-to-do' customers. They don't want to set foot in such trashy looking stores. You would think that the geniuses in Dallas would see this, but they are so arrogant and stubborn that they'll shut a load of stores before seeing the writing on the wall. Note to Dallas...you guys are pathetic and need a life. You are going to ruin your careers just to make a point? And, gee, did your bottom line get smaller...say by 18.3%. You guys have been tinkering with this company for years and it's only getting worse. You would think the investors would see this but you five are good at telling investors what they want to hear, not what they should know. You can only hand out so much bullshit before everyone sees through it. The end is near!!!

Send Them Over There!

Dell's earnings jump on strong overseas sales. Well, Dell, take your company and make it's headquarters overseas then.

They Lasted Longer!

Well, it seems TM Corp is getting the better of all of you. They are doing the same crap to all of you, nothing is changing, but no one is interested in that change any longer. It was nice while it lasted. They got their wish...that managers hired by Denise were ousted in the northeast. They think that closes the book on this but not so fast. Andy the Regional in the Northeast is still a bs artist. He's doing his own thing against company protocol and undermining Sheri, which will get him terminated soon. You can't promise an individual a store managers position assuming that the next manager in line for that will turn it down. You come across as a big asshole, Andy, just like John who was terminated before you. You are being set up for your turn at "see ya!!". And get rid of your smirk...it's not professional.
Because I bashed Bush you all went away. Well, Bush supporters, you are no better than him. He supports the rich, the corporations, and he is sending troops into a war that has no justification. No one notices the shallow bullshit in the news media that really covers nothing but mundane news to keep the citizens appeased for news. We are fighting two wars at once and Michael Jackson and Paula Abdul are the news of the day. The economy of America is in shambles, we're in a war we can not win, and we are losing jobs, not gaining them. So, support the "war president", it's patriotic, and he's counting on you doing that. Next time vote for Independent or Green. Maybe if we voted all the lawyers out of Washington the lies and manipulations would stop.

Gas Prices And You!

This is copied from MSNBC business report on sagging stock market...we can only hope it keeps descending.
The nation’s discounters, whose customers have been particularly hurt by high gas prices, had another lackluster month.
And the more that customers don't have money, the more retailers don't have customers, so , corporations, get it together and cause gas prices to go down, or you will. This shortage of gasoline bullshit has been done before, we know it's artificial, so why bother? Do the bosses of the refineries need new cars or homes? Just to have all the money is a poor excuse to raise prices...you are alienating the low to middleclass, and there are some angry people in that group who may just take things into their own hands some day...soon!

Evil Company

How is it possible that such an evil company is still in business? How can they abuse so many people and still sleep at night? Just from reading the Anonymous entries and some of the personal e-mail I've received this corporation hires people under the false pretense that it's a "fun" job, then they burn them out fast, then give no support whatsoever when these 'burn outs' need medical or financial help after being discarded by Tuesday Morning. To top it off, nine times out of ten they send Loss Prevention to the store to catch them in bad policy, which LP knows full well will happen because these store personnel are just plain worn out. This is one disgusting way to run a company. And they do this crap right in their own back yards...yes, right in Texas. If any one was getting the impression this was isolated to just the Northeast, the abuse of employees with bad business practices is prevalent throughout, even in the corporate office. One indication of that is all the new faces in corporate. The higher ups have no imagination and definitely do not know how to solve problems. They know how to put their finger in the dike but they can't stop the badness of their own company. Of course, any one with that much bad ego is not going to admit wrong doing and publicly correct it...never!
Bumper Sticker: It IS as bad as you think, and they ARE out to get you.

Hellooooo, does any body answer their voice mail?

Same shit, different day. How long should it take for corporate to respond to a store. Two weeks, three? This has been the case since I and all other former and present employees have been or dealt with Tuesday Morning. Case in point...refunds are sometimes issued as a Corporate Check, but if something goes awry and the customer didn't get her refund, and she in turn starts harassing the store-level employees, why would it take that long for a company to respond. Is it because a store employee asked for assistance? Meanwhile the customer is fuming and threatening to boycott Tuesday Morning stores...just another example of Controlled Chaos. This is one dysfunctional company, from the very top on down. And if the employees can see all this wrong, can you imagine what the investors must think. Yes, for a while they will stick with what they have, but the glass house is becoming more transparent.
PS: Call the union now. If you are in a Workmans Comp case, get a lawyer but make sure he's competent with WC cases. Take pictures of messy back rooms and send to enolan4208@excite.com , along with anything else you want to photo. Tape recorders, digital cameras and video cameras...you have a right to protect yourselves.

Happy Greencard Day!

Many reports of lousy numbers for greencard. The downhill slide is on. The buyers can't seem to find the good stuff any longer. I agree that the flyer had nothing and I also agree that customers are becoming turned off by the decor in the stores. Tuesday Morning stores are dirty and trashy looking. The East Brunswick store has been open for at least five years and the original floor paint is chipped and gone from a lot of the floor. It is commendable that TM Corp has such a high return for the investors but I think that is about to reverse itself. I have mentioned Tuesday Morning stores to people I know or struck up conversations in other stores and the response is all the same...."Why would I shop in that disaster area...and besides, I can get it cheaper elsewhere!".
Been hearing a lot about people forming a Labor Party. This might be a good thing. A political party representing the laborers of America. Just might fly, McFly.

Where Did That Zone Go?

Ok, I apologize. I ranted about things not Tuesday Morning and people were insulted. I realize that some of the info I posted here was not directly related to Tuesday Morning but I wanted to show a bigger picture here but no one is interested in that bigger picture. The post before this one hits it right on the head but it's now too late to change anything. Corporations are funding our government, who in turn is passing legislation to benefit those corporations. Where in the world do you think this 'Workmans Comp gauntlet from hell' came from. Legislation being passed to benefit corporations. Been refused unemployment. Same answer...special interest legislation. Been bullied at work...you guessed it...we're sleeping but corporations are right there with money for their favorite "law makers". There is not one piece of legislation in America that addresses how that CEO, COO, or whatever initials they go by treats you in their daily pursuit of all things money. They can bully you until you run in tears with no legal consequences. Now some are going to say, well, isn't that what it's all about...making money? Yes, but not at the expense of the planet or the people on that planet.
Back to Tuesday Morning...Larry the Zone was caught hiding things from corporate so was terminated. Actually I think the word 'scapegoat' can be inserted here but I regress. He was as unethical as all the top few, but he got caught because the top few do not trust anyone. Sheri has been under M. Marchetti tutelage so she's a bitch from the start. More fear and intimidation to a store near you.
So, some of you don't want to hear the advice given here...get out while you can. The big picture was presented here to show just how futile your attempts at changing Tuesday Morning Corp are. You voiced your opinion and what happened. Tuesday Morning came out with markdowns from hell. As for the Saturday Greencard, it was inevitable...most customers complained that they couldn't be there for Tuesday Greencard because they had to work. The June Saturday Greencard is an experiment that will assuredly become the norm if the numbers are what they expect.
I posted the contact info for the union. Store managers are excluded from joining the union if they have the ability to hire and fire, which corporate has taken away from you all. It will take just one store to have the guts to call (keeping a very low profile while doing so) and arrange a meeting to see what's offered. If you are waiting for me it will be a long wait because I don't work for Tuesday Morning any longer. I give advice, I pass on news, and I make my little digs at the inane bullshit going on around America, but above all else I am a cheerleader for us working stiffs who are being taken for a ride. I will state this once more then go away....this is way bigger than Workmans Comp at Tuesday Morning, it is about laws being passed to screw all of you out of your HARD EARNED money.
PS: Is that kiosk computer still kicking out applicants if they can't lift fifty pounds. That is proof that you are being abused. OSHA states that if a carton is forty pounds that two people are required to lift and/or move it. When is the last time you had enough people to do just that...never, you say?

Filling In Space Waiting For The Hammer

Things are moving along behind the scenes so I thought I'd throw in some more filler for those elite monitoring this blog.

Neocon Definition Of Freedom
By D. Burbeck
4-30-5

It is imperative that the American people understand what this word means to the neo-cons.

The freedom that Lincoln gave to the slaves is the classic case, and I will not give a lengthy discourse of it, for it is what we all know and understand. But this is only one variation of the definition of "freedom".

Consider the experience that we all have had - being robbed or mugged or burglarized. Did the Police do anything more than take a report? Did they actively investigate and pursue the perpetrators? NO. Their excuse would be, of course, that they cannot devote detectives to every small crime that is reported. And we all accept that. "Buy some insurance and get back to your TV." The point is that people are actually free to live a life of crime.............. until they get caught red-handed.

But look at the other extreme of the criminal world. Look at the corporate criminals. People like Michael Milken, Fastow, Ebbers, etc. etc., and ask yourself - Do these types of criminals get the justice they deserve?

Milken was the only one of dozens of shysters who was even taken to court, and his punishment was a laughable 18 months in minimum security and a fine of $200 million - when he and his gang ripped off close to $50 BILLION from the public and the Government.

Now your starting to see the definition of freedom that is cemented in the minds of our elected officials. At a press conference during the massive looting in Iraq, Donald Rumsfeld was being grilled with questions when he put his head down, began shuffling his papers getting ready to walk away, and said "These people are free now. Free to become criminals."

The freedom to be bad......and receive a slap on the wrist is a wonderful freedom. $9 Billion in Iraq totally vanishing is a pretty good example, but a much more lucrative game is the corporations gaining complete control of the Federal Government (and proof is out there that they did it with the control of the E-voting machines).

The corporate world is becoming free to do anything they want - destroy air quality, poison the water supply, not be sued for harm to citizens, etc. They are having Congress pass laws that take rights away from citizens that have been in place for over 200 years. And they are having Congress REMOVE laws that took decades to get passed (deregulation). And a funny thing, Congress is not updating the punishments for crime that, nowadays, amounts into BILLIONS of dollars in theft.

Having the freedom to own a post office box in the Cayman Islands and avoid hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes, the freedom to buy into shady tax shelters and avoid hundreds of millions in taxes, the freedom to move operations to a communist dictatorship and avoid hundreds of millions of dollars in wages and benefits, the freedom to pay themselves astronomical salaries and options, the freedom to shovel profits into off-shore accounts, the freedom to keep the white collar criminal code 100 years behind the times, the freedom to decimate communities with Walmarts while sending sons and daughters off to fight in illegal wars, the freedom to break long-standing nuclear arms treaties with 180 nations of the world, the freedom to break conflicts of interest rules, the freedom to give mega wealth to your family and friends for war profiteering, the freedom to keep the people in turmoil over threats to their social and physical security in order to keep their minds off of all of the above..... these are the freedoms that the neo-cons love. And if you think the Democrats are the answer.......think again.......they feed from the exact same trough as the Republicans. (Just check your Democrat's voting record to be sure.)

The really sad part is that these "freedoms" are being handed over to them by a complaisant electorate that has a remote control in their hands and would much rather watch a good game on TV than stay informed about the sadistic game being played on THEM! And the neo-cons are banking on it, because they are quite aware that there are very tough times ahead.

Number 4: Still about Sr.

1963 John F. Kennedy is assassinated. Internal FBI memo reports that on November 22 "reputable businessman" George H. W. Bush reported hearsay that a certain Young Republican "has been talking of killing the president when he comes to Houston." The Young Republican was nowhere near Dallas on that date.
According to a 1988 story in The Nation, a memo from J. Edgar Hoover states that "Mr. George Bush of the CIA" had been briefed on November 23rd, 1963 about the reaction of anti-Castro Cuban exiles in Miami to the assassination of President Kennedy. George says it ain't him, admits he was in Texas but can't remember where.
